Free State Stars striker Moeketsi Sekola has dedicated his top goal scorer award to his teammates, especially the likes of Paulus Masehe and Themba Tshabalala.
Sekola, whose 14 League goals helped Stars beat the threat of relegation, was handed his trophy at the PSL's annual awards ceremony in Sandton last night.
The 26-year-old netted one more goal than Bloemfontein Celtic attacker Lerato Lamola.
"It's a good feeling [to win the award]," Sekola tells KickOff.com. "I never saw it coming before.
"We went through lot as a team. We lost one of our teammates [Richard Henyekane passed away on April 7] and we have been battling with relegation.
"To come here and win this award it means a lot and it feels special.
"I want to dedicate this award to my teammates. They have always been there for me, especially the senior players, the likes of Paulus Masehe, Themba Tshabalala who kept pushing me to work hard."
The in-demand forward is hoping he can repeat his efforts next season.
"I would like to defend it but it will depend on God. By the grace of God [I] will definitely defend it."
