An experimental Bafana Bafana team played to a 0-0 draw against Lesotho at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru on Thursday afternoon.
National team coach Shakes Mashaba fielded an inexperienced starting eleven for the match, which was originally slated as a training game but later declared an international friendly.
Several players therefore made their debuts and earned their first caps, with Mashaba making five substitutes in the second half.
Setsoto Stadium pulled a decent crowd on a public holiday in Lesotho and the home side put on a good show for their supporters, creating more chances than South Africa and hitting the crossbar in the first half.
Cole Alexander had the ball in the back of the net 10 minutes before half-time but it was ruled offside as the visitors gradually got into the match.
Lesotho had another good chance from a header in the second half and took control of proceedings but were unable to beat Jackson Mabokgwane in the Bafana goal.
Bafana's best chances came in the last 15 minutes as Moeketsi Sekola forced a save out of the Lesotho goalkeeper and Carl Lark blazed over in the final few minutes when well placed to score.
The goalless scoreline is the first time Bafana have failed to score in 11 matches, the last time being back in October against Congo during African Nations Cup qualifying.
