Free State Stars have signed Tanzanian striker Mrisho Ngassa on a four-year deal from Young Africans and he will join the club in July for pre-season.

The 26-year-old has apparently signed a lucrative contract “which would make him one of the most expensive players at the club”, according to reports from the North-East African country.

Reports claim that Free State Stars paid $150 000 (R1.7 million) for Ngassa.

“We are delighted to announce we have agreed terms with Mrisho Ngasa’s agent for the transfer of the player,” Stars coach Kinnah Phiri is quoted as saying.

Ngassa adds: “I’m delighted to finally be here. It’s a wonderful club and I can’t wait to get started. I always said I wanted to play abroad. I believe that if I play well enough at Free State Stars, I could win my place in the starting team.”
