12 League goals and counting…

With two or three Absa Premiership games remaining, five players could still snatch the Golden Boot award as Lerato Lamola leads the chart with 12 goals.
The Bloemfontein Celtic ace nearly fluffed the chance against Chippa United last night but managed to score on the rebound after his penalty-kick was initially saved by goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela.
Nevertheless, the Celtic striker remains the favourite to win the Lesley Manyathela award as Phunya Sele Sele still have three games left – against Ajax Cape Town (home), Free State Stars (home) and Moroka Swallows (away).
Lamola is in pole position with two home games to come, although the Free State derby against Ea Lla Koto could be a very tough game considering their opponents are fighting relegation.
However, by the time they play Swallows in the final game of the season, the Dube Birds may already be relegated, meaning Lamola could be in a good position to add salt to the wounds and bag a couple more in Dobsonville.
Polokwane City attacker Puleng Tlolane – a big reason his team have been forgiven for conceding more than 50 League goals this season – is sitting on 11 goals next to Moeketsi Sekola of Free State Stars.
Rise and Shine only have two games left – against Platinum Stars (away) and an unpredictable SuperSport United (home) while Sekola will also fancy his chances as Stars have Chippa United (home), Bloemfontein Celtic (away) and Mpumalanga Black Aces (home) still to come.
Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cuthbert Malajila – who has not scored in five League games – will need to rediscover his scoring touch in their final three games against Dikwena (away), Matsatsantsa (away) and University of Pretoria (home) if he is to move off the 10 goals he has been on since early March.
Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus is the last realistic contender, but it is unlikely as he will need to score at least four goals in their last two games against Maritzburg United (away) and Ajax (away).
The League has not seen a player score 20 League goals since Siyabonga Nomvete in the 2011/12 season. Last season Bernard Parker won the award with 10 goals.
