Bidvest Wits have confirmed they have up to the end of May to take up their option on experienced defender Onismor Bhasera.
Bhasera is in the last year of his contract at Wits but has the option of another year, which appears likely to be exercised.
“We have options that need to be renewed by the end of May and he [Bhasera] is one of them along with several others,” says Jose Ferreira, the Wits CEO.
“Those options already have figures so there are no negotiations but just a matter of sending out a letter confirming that we will be exercising the options.
“Everything is under control with the players that we have options with.”
The 29-year-old joined Wits at the beginning of the 2013/14 season on a two-year deal with an option of a further year following his return from English club Plymouth Argyle and has established himself as the regular left-back.
Based on performance, the Zimbabwean appears certain to stay on as he has started 22 games this season, missing games only when injured, suspended or rested.
Meanwhile, out-of-favour wing-back Katlego Pule remains contracted to the club, though the club is keen on engaging him on his future.
