RDS pleased with Isaacs, Losper

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa has hailed the impact of Erwin Isaacs and Toriq Losper since joining the Cape side in January.

The pair signed on from Bidvest Wits two months ago and have been impressive for the Urban Warriors, who have lost just once in the League since the turn of the year.

De Sa is pleased with the way the duo have integrated into his side with ease on their return home.

“It was easy for them – they both Cape Town boys,” De Sa tells “There was no real settling in – they’re Capetonians and happy to be back home. They have a sense of comfort and love being here, so it was very easy for them.

"Then obviously they’ve worked with me before, so there weren’t too many changes. I know a bit about them, I know how to talk to them and get the best out of them.”

De Sa reveals how he spoke to both players when they arrived to help ease the pressure.

“I had a chat with Isaacs and Losper when they first arrived here, and the main thing was that they don’t have to prove anything – I know enough about them, that’s why I got them, so they don’t need to try too hard,” he says.

“That’s always a problem, guys who want to do something extraordinary every time they get the ball. And so far, so good.”

Both Isaacs and Losper have featured in all five of Ajax’s League encounters thus far this year, the former bagging two goals already while Losper has one. Despite both not being as quick as in previous years, De Sa has been pleased with what they have contributed to his team.

“I always felt Isaacs would score goals for us and do well,” he says. “He’s very versatile and hungry and he’s a lot more mature now, and become a better football all-round. He might have lost a bit of pace, but I think he’s a better footballer, and I think that’s the same with Losper.

“If anything, Isaacs has taken a knock in his lifestyle to come back here, and we are glad he has done that. And I think he’s probably one of the ones who is likely to stay with us for quite some time.”

De Sa will hope the pair continue their good form, as Ajax prepare to host Bloemfontein Celtic in the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on Friday.
