Ajax Cape Town’s new signing Erwin Isaacs is loving life back in the Mother City and would love to make his loan deal a permanent one.
The 28-year-old was a star player for Santos, but saw his career stall at Bidvest Wits, where he hardly got a game in the last two seasons.
Life at Ajax has started well, and Isaacs scored one of the goals of the season on Friday night against Chippa United.
“I think in my first season there, all went well,” Isaacs tells KickOff.com of his time at Wits. “I was playing regularly and even managed to get on the score-sheet.
“But things changed the following season when a new coach came in, new players came in and you know in this business … when a new coach and new players come in, you do not know what will happen next.”
Isaacs is on a six-month loan to the Urban Warriors and reveals his desire to remain at the club beyond this short spell.
“Look, I’m a Cape Town boy. This may not be Santos like it was in the past, but I love it down here and I’ve missed that. I didn’t realise that until I got to go down on the turf and got the scoring feeling,” he adds.
“It’s great being here, my family is here and my kids are also here, so I think I would like to remain here, but that is something we still have to talk about.
“I’m grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to be back down here again and I am prepared to work as hard as I can for the remainder of my stay here.”
