AmaZulu shrugged off their struggles to produce a stunning 5-2 away win over SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
A brace from Goodman Dlamini, as well as goals from Marc van Heerden, Bongi Ntuli and Bornwell Mwape took Usuthu to just their second League win of 2014/15.
Matsatsantsa saw striker Jeremy Brockie continue his scoring sequence for his fourth in as many matches but were punished for seemingly underestimating their opponents. Clayton Daniels netted the other goal.
SuperSport opened the scoring on their home soil when Brockie found a ball that went past Mbulelo Mabizela and he did not hesitate to fire it into the back of the net, handing his side a 1-0 lead.
The first chance for Usuthu came in the seventh minute when they were denied an equaliser by Thabo Moloi, who cleared the ball just on the goal-line with a header.
SuperSport continued to maintain the ball possession, keeping AmaZulu on the back foot as they created some sense of urgency.
In the 33rd minute Usuthu got a clear chance but Ntuli failed to put power on the final touch which made things easy for Ronwen Williams.
A minute later Dove Wome came back for SuperSport, hitting a long-range shot from outside the box but Energy Murambadoro made a brilliant save in the air.
In the 41st minute AmaZulu were awarded another set-piece and it was Van Heerden who made good use of it, putting it in the top-left corner of Williams' net and taking the game to 1-1.
While SuperSport were still looking amazed by the goal, Ntuli banged in a second for Usuthu, giving his side a valuable 2-1 lead at the half-time mark.
The second half started at high intensity and both teams looked keen on scoring more goals.
Just two minutes had elapsed when Mwape extended AmaZulu's lead to 3-1 when he beat Williams inside the box.
After this goal Mathebula came close to scoring for SuperSport but his shot was denied by the AmaZulu keeper.
Five minutes later SuperSport were finally rewarded for their efforts with a goal from Daniels as he headed home from a set-piece.
A comeback may have been on the cards at this point, but in the 60th minute Usuthu scored their fourth goal and restored a two-goal fusion via Goodman Dlamini, who finished after receiving a pass from Robyn Johannes.
Four minutes later Dlamini completed his brace, extending AmaZulu’s lead to 5-2 and effectively killing off the contest after a good run by Ntuli.
