African Youth Championship SA U-17 Nigeria U-17

The South Africa Under-17 team advanced to the Final of the African Youth Championship after edging Nigeria 1-0 in Niamey, Niger on Wednesday.

Khanyisa Mayo, the son of ex-Bafana Bafana forward Patrick Mayo, netted with a fine strike in the 26th minute at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché.

The tournament decider is scheduled for Sunday, with Mali and Guinea contesting the other last-four tie on Thursday.

By reaching the semi-finals, all four countries qualified for the Fifa U17 World Cup, taking place in Chile from October 17 to November 8.
