Henrico Botes backs Bidvest Wits squad depth

Posted: 17 February 2015 Time: 16:50

Bidvest Wits striker Henrico Botes believes coach Gavin Hunt has assembled a squad capable of challenging on all fronts in the second half of the season.

The Clever Boys are in confident mood following a 3-0 drubbing of Swazi team Royal Leopards in the opening game of their CAF Confedration Cup campaign, and are also on an 11-match unbeaten run.

Botes, 35, believes the squad is in a healthy state considering the group that participated in Africa contained a number of academy players.

However, the Namibian is keen to stress that the Absa Premiership remains their primary target.

“Yes, [CAF Confederations Cup] it’s a different competition from the League, our primary focus is to collect points and challenge for the League,” Botes is quoted on MTN Football.

“The League at this stage is our focus, Swallows aren’t doing well and we’re playing in their own backyard – so it’s going to be interesting I must say.

“At this stage, playing three competitions is not easy, we’re ready and we’ve got a technical team that’s capable of rotating the players.

“We have enough ammunition to sustain us in all competitions across the board and we’re confident of getting the result in Dobsonville.”
