Free State Stars rookie Mbuyiselo Thethani was naturally thrilled to score and provide an assist on his debut against SuperSport United in midweek.

Ea Lla Koto looked to be heading to defeat after conceding early goals via Matsatsantsa recruit Kingston Nkhatha and Bafana Bafana winger Thuso Phala on Wednesday night.

However, Thethani pulled one back with a thunderous drive in the 79th minute before teeing up fellow substitute and debutant Hendrick Somaeb for a last-gasp equaliser at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Thethani told his club's official website: "First of all I am glad I was awarded an opportunity to play my first PSL match against a big team like SuperSport United. I want to thank the technical team for the chance they have given me and I am thrilled that I was able to repay their faith with a goal.

"This is my maiden season in the big league. I still have a lot to learn. I learn very fast and I would like to thank players like Paulus Masehe and others who constantly push me to work hard.

"I do not want to put pressure on myself but I will make sure I put back the smiles on our supporters again."

The 18-year-old striker has come through Stars' development structures.
