Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa insists he is unconcerned with lack of goals from his strikers

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa says he is unconcerned over the form of his misfiring strikers.
The Urban Warriors are the joint-third lowest scoring side in the PSL thus far this season, with just 17 goals from their 18 matches. Tashreeq Morris is the club’s highest scorer in the League with just four goals, with fellow strikers Thabiso Nkoana on three and Nathan Paulse on two, both of which were scored in August last year.
However, De Sa says he is unperturbed, insisting that goals can come from all over the park.
“I don’t think we are the kind of team that only rely on the strikers to score all the goals,” De Sa tells KickOff.com. “I think the goals have been quite widespread by everybody.
“So I’m disappointed with the low goals, but not that concerned that it’s only coming from one or two strikers. I’d obviously like it to continue to be spread, but a lot more.”
De Sa admitted his side were searching for a new frontman over the January transfer window, yet were unable to secure a new marksman before the transfer deadline. The Cape side did however bring back midfielder Toriq Losper as well as forward-thinking Erwin Isaacs from Bidbest Wits, who De Sa feels are strong additions to his squad.
“It comes down to affordability and availability,” De Sa says of his side’s failure in recruiting a new striker. “There was no lack of effort in trying to get one, that’s for sure.
“But you have to get the ones that are going to make the difference – you don’t want to just get people others don’t want, and then you get guys who are demanding massive packages.
“The players we went for I was quite happy with, because they are players that want to be here – and that was the key factor, with both Losper and Isaacs.”
De Sa hopes his new recruits will help fire his side to their first six-pointer of the season when they host Polokwane City at Cape Town Stadium this evening.
