New SuperSport United signing Luvolwethu Mpeta has explained why he chose to join Matsatsantsa instead of Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns.
All three clubs were vying for Mpeta's signature in the January transfer window, but he says the better prospect of game-time at United helped inform his decision when leaving Platinum Stars.
Mpeta expects to battle primarily with Bafana Bafana left-back Sibusiso Khumalo for the favour of coach Gordon Igesund.
"There were lot of things involved and I think for my decision there was a lot of benefit to join SuperSport United because if you look at Pirates and Sundowns, they have a lot of good players in that position," Mpeta tells KickOff.com.
"At SuperSport there is only Khumalo so I might get a chance to play, so I look at those things and to state it clear... there were lot of things that took place.
"But it was tough to choose and I also gave Platinum Stars as my first choice, but by the look of things, I fell in love with SuperSport."
The 25-year-old also gave credit to Dikwena for their contribution to his career.
"My former team is a good team. They have quality players and very experienced and I think they will do well. However, I want to thank them for what they have done for me and I really appreciate it."
