Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira says the club is not in a rush to renew players' contracts as they have options to renew those expiring at the end of the season
Omismor Bhasera and Papy Faty are two of the players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season.
Burundi international Faty is currently nursing a long-term injury after signing a new one-year deal with the Clever Boys last season and is expected to extend his stay.
Bhasera, who joined Wits last season, has a one-year deal with a one-year option and since he joined Wits he has made 38 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Ferreira says there is no chance the club won’t take up the options on the players' contracts.
“There are many players whose contracts are ending at the end of the season, you can’t just ask me about one player,” Ferreira tells KickOff.com.
“Bhasera is the same as any other player at the club and the reason we are going to make the call by May 31st is because there is no rush because we have the option to renew.
“If you ask me what’s the chance of us not taking up that option, the answer is zero,” he says.
Other players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season include Christopher Katongo, Henrico Botes, Dillon Sheppard and Rowen Fernandez, who all joined Wits at the beginning of the season on one-year deals.
Sibusiso Vilakazi recently signed a new deal with the Clever Boys until June 2018.
