KickOff.com has learnt that Tshepo Gumede has rejected an offer from Mamelodi Sundowns, possibly paving the way for the defender to join Orlando Pirates.
Platinum Stars gave their blessing to Sundowns to engage with Gumede - whose contract expires in June - after being unable to convince him to extend his stay in Rustenburg.
However, the 23-year-old was unhappy with what Downs had to say, and will now revive talks with Stars officials on Friday.
Should Gumede and Dikwena again fail to find common ground, then he could make his way to Pirates, according to a source close to the player.
"The offer that Sundowns made was ridiculous," says the source. "The boy was not happy about it. I believe he is joining Pirates."
Gumede's agent, Vusi Manana, also confirmed they were displeased with what the Brazilians tabled for his client.
"We were not happy with what Sundowns offered. The last word we heard from them was asking us to make a counter offer," Manana tells KickOff.com.
"We are meeting with Platinum Stars again on Friday to see if we can iron out a few things with them and probably agree on a new contract. If not then we are free to speak to anybody."
Gumede, whose grandmother is a Pirates fan, says he will know where his future lies by Monday.
"Yes, my grandmother is a Pirates fan. But we don't talk about football matters," Gumede tells this website. "On Monday I will know where I will be playing this season."
