Chippa United boss Chippa Mpengesi is desperate to hold onto some of his key players after losing star striker David Zulu to Kaizer Chiefs.

Defender Mpho Mvelase is one of the players reported to be on his way out of United when the transfer window opens in January, with the 25-year-old linked with a switch to Orlando Pirates in the New Year.

Chilli Boys boss Chippa Mpengesi has confirmed contact with Bucs regarding the services of their talented defender.

"There has been some talk with Pirates (about Mvelase)," Mpengesi tells Kickoff.com.

"However, we are trying to hold onto our best players and cannot afford to sell more players in the team,” he added.

Chippa currently lie eighth in the PSL standings with 22 points from their 17 matches.
