KickOff.com profiles 15 players who could be making headlines in the coming month when the January transfer window opens.
If reports are anything to go by, Platinum Stars are set to lose as many as four players during the next transfer window, or at least at the end of the season. However, there are many other players from other clubs who may also move on.
So who are the top transfer targets?
Puleng Tlolane [Polokwane City]
With eight goals in 12 starts for Rise and Shine, the 23-year-old has apparently attracted interest from some Gauteng clubs. Polokwane City chairman Johnny Mogaladi insists none of his players are leaving, but every player has his price, right.
Moeketsi Sekola [Free State Stars]
The League’s joint top scorer with six goals has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs in recent months, but Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly also in the picture.
According to some reports, he has already signed for Mamelodi Sundowns and the Zimbabwean striker did tell KickOff.com on November 24 that Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are indeed after him. Only time will tell if he has indeed signed for the Brazilians.
Anthony Laffor [Mamelodi Sundowns]
The Liberian is reportedly in the last seven months of his contract, which means he can sign for another club as a free agent in January and move at the end of the season. With just two starts and five substitute appearances to his name this season, perhaps he may be looking for a fresh start.
Siyabonga Mpontshane [Platinum Stars]
Following Senzo Meyiwa’s death, Orlando Pirates and Mpontshane’s name have been written in the same line over and over again. However, the player’s agent Tim Sukazi says there has been no official approach from the club.
Bongani Ndulula [AmaZulu]
Usuthu want to offer him a new contract, but those in the know suggest his days in Durban may be numbered, with Kaizer Chiefs being constantly linked with the Bafana Bafana striker. A move to Belgium is also on the cards.
Bryce Moon [Mamelodi Sundowns]
According to a weekend report, the defender is one of at least four players AmaZulu are interested in loaning from Sundowns. The others being Bongi Ntuli, Rodney Ramagalela and Siyanda Zwane.
William Twala [Chippa United]
The midfielder has found a new lease of life at Chippa United. Twala has started 16 League matches for the Chilli Boys since joining from Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars are apparently tracking him.
Luvolwethu Mpeta [Platinum Stars]
Mpeta, who was recently called up to the Bafana Bafana squad, is once again a subject of transfer speculation. The latest club to be linked with the left-back is Mamelodi Sundowns.
Tshepo Gumede [Platinum Stars]
Another Dikwena player reportedly on Sundowns’ radar is Gumede, who continues to be a regular for the North West side.
The winger almost signed for Mpumalanga Black Aces in the last transfer window, but that move didn’t materialise. His agent Tim Sukazi is on record saying Segolela is likely to move.
Thanduyise Khuboni [Mpumalanga Black Aces]
The former Golden Arrows defensive midfielder is unsettled at AmaZayoni and may be looking at other options, including AmaZulu.
Nyasha Mushekwi [Mamelodi Sundowns]
A Sundowns official has suggested that the club is willing to release Mushekwi, who is not even registered this season due to the fact that the club has exhausted its foreign quota. He has on many occasions been linked with Pirates.
Robert Ng’ambi [Platinum Stars]
The Malawian international has been linked with Sundowns since 2011 but nothing materialized. This time though, Bidvest Wits may be the frontrunners.
Rofhiwa Tshikovhi [Platinum Stars]
Born in the same village as Mulomowandau Mathoho, the 26-year-old may follow in Mathoho’s footsteps by joining a big club. Apparently Chiefs have shown interest while Stars are trying to renew his deal that expires at the end of June.
