Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season after breaking his leg during the Absa Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Petersen was rushed to hospital after he collided with Sundowns striker Anthony Laffor in the 16th minute of the match played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium yesterday.

The Brazilians went on to beat the Urban Warriors 2-1 after Anssi Jaakkola was substituted on in place of the severely injured Petersen.

Ajax coach Roger De Sa confirmed his player's injury, and also lashed out at referee Robert Smith for giving Peterson a yellow card for the incident.

"[Laffor] goes in for a tackle and breaks [Petersen's] leg, the referee gives a foul and a [yellow] card.

“If we say something, we get fined R40 000-R100 000, but here a player of mine won’t play football for another six months, but its okay?” questioned De Sa.

A working review committee is what you should have called for way even before this Sundowns match.

May be Safa (as a body) and Psl should punish a player by banning him for 3 months.

You will go full circle in the blame game RDS, you started by blaming clubs with big budgets now you are on referees. In soccer there is no fairness you will scream until you burst your neck veins but you must not keep when things are going wrong I like your stance of not being scared to be fined call a spade a spade.
