AmaZulu striker Ayanda 'Cobra' Dlamini says the team's defence and confidence has improved under coach Steve Barker.
Usuthu, who drew 1-1 with high-flying Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday, are propping up the standings with nine points from 16 games - seven points shy of escaping the drop zone.
Barker's men will end the year with a clash against fellow strugglers Moroka Swallows at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
“We just have to go there and get three points. Our situation doesn’t allow us to drop points. We were supposed to win the Maritzburg and Ajax games, but things didn’t go our away,” Dlamini told his club's official website.
“The way we are playing is good, we have not been conceding in the past games like we used to do and that is something positive. I think the arrival of Barker has been great, he has raised our confidence.”
Barker has collected five points from his four games in charge of the Durban outfit since leaving University of Pretoria late last month.
