Mpumalanga Black Aces part ways with Mabizela

Posted: 12 December 2014 Time: 09:51

Mpumalanga Black Aces have cancelled Mbulelo Mabizela's contract after the defender suffered a fall-out with head coach Clive Barker.

Aces severed ties with Mabizela based on the recommendations of a disciplinary enquiry held on 28 October, conducted by commissioner Stef Franke of Franke & Associates Attorneys.

AmaZayoni released a statement on their official website, which said: 'The final conclusion of a four-page comprehensive report issued to Black Aces by the external commissioner, was that the employee, Mbulelo Mabizela be dismissed forthwith.

'Mabizela signed an employment contract on 12 May 2014 for a fixed period which would terminate on 30 June 2016.

'Mabizela admitted that what he had said to the head coach was wrong and that he had breached the Aces Handbook in respect of the code of conduct, however it was found that it was practically impossible for his employment relationship to continue.

'Whilst one acknowledges that the employee as was evident from the evidence given, is a very emotional person, his actions displayed an almost contemptuous lack of commitment to the goals of the employer.

'Black Aces would like to thank Mabizela for his contribution and wishes him well with his future.'

Aces chairman Mario Morfou expressed disappointment at the turn of events.

"He was one of our marque signings and when we entered into an agreement with him, we both discussed his previous disciplinary issues and I personally backed him. Very disappointed and it’s a sad day but we are running a business and no player is larger than the club."

The former Bafana Bafana captain only played in the club's first game of the season, a 4-0 MTN8 loss to eventual cup champions Kaizer Chiefs.

You know Mbulelo is not appreciating what Aces did for him.  When everyone else is writing you off but then Aces gave him a benefit of a doubt , now this.  Old John is no longer a youngster he shouldn't have behaved this way.  Grow up , broer

Another one, among many to come (and God forbid). A South African player with talent lost so soon. Naughty Mokoena, Skapi Malatsi, Junior Khanye, Sipho Nunez,Jabu Mahlangu, Masibusane Zongo etc. These are the names that deserve a Hall of Fame if they had appreciated the talent they had. My country is weeping.
