Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Mweene disappointed following draw with Orlando Pirates

Posted: 11 December 2014 Time: 11:14

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene said they are disappointed with the point they got against Orlando Pirates in their 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium.

With log leaders Kaizer Chiefs being held by Platinum Stars on Tuesday, Downs missed an opportunity to close the gap and slipped to third in the standings as Bidvest Wits beat Ajax Cape Town 4-2 last night.

“I think we are disappointed because we had the game in our hands,” Mweene said.

“It is something which we planned, we knew that if they will score they were going to do that from the set pieces.

“We are disappointed, one point okay we can take it, but we wanted the three points.”

Mweene was, however, pleased with his Man-of-the-Match performance as he made crucial saves to deny Kermit Erasmus and Lehlohonolo Majoro in Soweto.

“It was a tough game coming here, we knew that it was not going to be easy and they came to me on one-on-ones I think three or four times and as a goalkeeper you have to raise your hand and do your best to save the team.

“I think we did well we did everything that we could, it's only that we didn't kill the game and I think every one played well.

“All in all, we did what we could to get results but it was not our day.”

which game were u playing at as pirates created better chances than u and that is why u ended up being man of the match......

I don't agree with you Sir. Rats, as much as they are down at the moment, they created far better clear chances than you. If fact for you to suggest that the only way they could have scored was through set play means you were watching a different game. Majoro, Bacela+Erasmus all missed easy chances from standard situations and not set plays. Rats deserved to win that game

You're the weakest link in sundowns...hoe did you pasd an opponent?

Its a pity Majoro didn't punish you...

What was happening to the goal that you conceded? That ball you could've catched it..

Now Pitso must give Onyango a chance

@Chief Murphy

I agree, but just know that Mweene, Billiat, Langerman and Teko won't sit on the bench as long as they're fit to play. Pitso's favourite.
