Man of the Match Makudubela reaction after Platinum Stars' 2-2 draw with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 9 December 2014 Time: 18:42

Man of the Match Mahlatsi Makudubela said Platinum Stars needed a result more than Kaizer Chiefs going into their 2-2 draw in Polokwane on Tuesday night.

REPORT: Chiefs 2-2 Plat Stars

Relegation-wary Stars took the game to log leaders Amakhosi as they went twice in front via goals from Robert Ng'ambi and Eleazar Rodgers.

However, Chiefs stars Siphiwe Tshabalala and Tefu Mashamaite also got on the scoresheet to ensure the spoils were shared at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Makudubela, who was a lively presence throughout the tie, said: "First of all I would like to thank the coach for giving me an opportunity. It wasn't easy for us. We knew the situation on the log, we needed the three points more than Chiefs.

"But we came out here and gave it our best, and a draw is not bad for us."

When asked if up-and-coming players feel extra motivated to impress against Chiefs, he said: "Ja, it is always good for a youngster to come out and rise to the occasion in games like this. But it is for the benefit of the team."

The point lifted Dikwena to 12th spot in the standings with 15 points from 13 games - a point above the drop zone.

Baxter is a master tactician!! He changes the team formation 4 or 5 times in a game

It really surprises me when the rats say all they know is 4-5-1 formation and they cannot change it

KCisNationalDefenceForce U c baba wat we r complaining about at Pirates? When u r trailing,u put more attack and force something like Baxter did yesterday.Even my wife said this is how our coach shud approach games. If u luz a game while at least showing that u intended to win then fans will understand but not just sitting with that useless 1 striker stuff wen u need  goals.

Mriyo(Dr Khoza must step down) KCisNationalDefenceForce

My point excatly....it's not practical to have 1 formation for 90 minutes let alone a multiple of 90 minutes.

You study a game as it progresses and make necessary tactical changes. That is not the case at rats

People even criticise Baxter when he will introduce an extra defender for a striker in the 80th minute when we are leading....personally I call that a tactical change and I support it

I hold this boy in high esteem; the very first time i took a glimpse at his movement; that day he only played less than 10 minutes. He's talent...In this blog we spoke about him last week, with the Zuma boy at Celtics.

What is interesting is that big teams start to appreciate young talent when they play elsewhere and start rubbing their palms with interest. They, too, have similar young talent that they dont want to give a chance. Some even buy them back into their fold with tripple the money they sold them for. I shall repeat this fact until some reasonable human being out there listens (it could be the person that matters).
