PSL Absa Premiership match report: Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 SuperSport United

Posted: 3 December 2014 Time: 21:48

Goals from Khama Billiat, Themba Zwane and Teko Modise helped Mamelodi Sundowns to a 3-1 Absa Premiership win over SuperSport United on Wednesday evening.

SuperSport opened the scoring through Dove Wome, but Downs fought back to secure all there points against Matsatsantsa, who had Thuso Phala sent off just before the hour-mark.
Wome continued the trend of Sundowns players scoring against their parent club, with the on-loan SuperSport midfielder following in the footsteps of Eleazar Rodgers and Thamsanqa Sangweni.
The Togo international ran onto a through-ball from Thuso Phala before rounding Kennedy Mweene and finishing with aplomb in the 17th minute, 1-0.
Wome almost grabbed his brace three minutes later. Mweene spilled Sibusiso Khumalo’s shot from range into the path of the midfielder, who failed to put away the rebound as the goalkeeper made the block.
The Brazilians pulled level through Billiat in the 32nd minute. Cuthbert Malajila put enough pressure on at the near post to deflect Hlompho Kekana's cross into the path of the unmarked Zimbabwe international, who made no mistake from close range.
Pitso Mosimane’s men continued to bombard the Matsatsantsa goal and took the lead through Themba Zwane on the stroke of half-time. Malajila's header forced Ronwen Williams into a superb save, before Zwane found the back of the net on the rebound, 2-1 at the break.
SuperSport were dealt a further blow in the 59th minute after Phala received his marching orders for lashing out at Billiat.
Modise wrapped things up for the hosts in the 74th minute. His first-time effort from the edge of the area took a wicked deflection, which completely wrong-footed Williams who just stood and watched the ball bulge the back of the net.
The win moves Sundowns up to fifth place on the Absa Premiership standings, while SuperSport drop to 11th.

Ntethe is on form now. I think we have found our back four in Mphahlele,Ntethe,Schut & Punch. I see a lot coming from Nomandela with regular game time, he must improve his marking.laffor too looks dangerous when in possession must improve marking as well. I'd prefer the speedy Mahachi instead of moriri now. Then I see us closing the gap between us and the log leaders. Speedy recovery to muzi mashaba. Langerman should be benched. Back with a bang, it's game On baby.kby

Kekana deserve man of the match... he worked hard and made an assist and his forward passes are on point. I just don't like it when he fall easily.

Thanks for three points. KBY!!!

freesoul kby There is playing the ball back to create spaces in between the opposition and then there is what the team is doing now which is not as effective. The ball is moved back very slowly and that gives the opposition time to re arrange their defensive format. If we had a one touch back pass followed by a forward pass we would destabilize a lot of teams.

We have such skillful players who can dribble past any team in the PSL, but we are not using them in that manner. Let us start trusting them on the ball. Billiat is pushed way too much upfront and he is the one who is supposed to be beating/dribbling players in the middle and down the flanks.

We also should have been awarded a penalty when sibusiso kicked malajila in the box. Is there anyone complaining about that. No! Kby

Downs beat 10 man Supersports - some things will never change: anyways, what a good game and as a Down's organizer, I'm happy.

Your team played well last night even if wits was unlucky to score doutie and ngcobo. But I enjoyed watching parker's goals even if the first one was a hand ball. Kby

Jabu King Spot on Dawana about young Ngonyama, we need him back now as the current defenders are older that 25 years.

@sandawana187 we have them but they are not offensive. That's why zwane is not a winger but is taking their place. Look at ejike, cheese, pelembe, ,Nomandela they all look rusty to me.kby

The referees in both Sundowns and Chiefs game were poor to say the least, Parker's hand ball, Phala's red card. The problem of referring still persists in our league. Our players know how to milk reactions from these guys, they are easily swayed. Congrats to all the teams that won on the night because it is not their responsibility to make the ref do his job appropriately. Their job was to play and win, anf that is exactly what they did........

to Billiant, M4we2, the new Generations Legacy could use your acting skills

sir pitso Thats true Tebogo should be benched cause he cost us many games. Given more game time, Punch will be better at the left back

I don't see the reason why he should be our preferred left back. He goes up and down with no intention. When muzi plays , you can see he wants the team to win. Punch is a bit low on confidence but looks ready , with regular game time. I see him owning that place. And langerman getting released. I'd have loved to see a player like phungwayo competing with punch because of his style of play, but he doesn't have pace.
