A resurgent Polokwane City beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 in the Absa Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
After goalless opening half, City took control through strikes from Thobani Mncwango and Puleng Tlolane, while ex-Orlando Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma pulled one back late on at Kanyamazane Stadium.
The loss was Aces' third of the season while Polokwane extended their winning run to three games in the League.
The game was rather dull before the introduction of Mncwango in the 41st minute, but there was nothing he could do before the break.
Polokwane started the second half strongly, and opened the scoring in the 46th minute when Mncwango netted with a clinical finish.
Ten minutes later Mncwango showed good vision and turned provider to set Tlolane into space and he duly finished to double the away side’s lead, 2-0.
AmaZayoni started to dominate after that, but they struggled to break down a resilient Polokwane defence
The hosts, though, did manage a consolation goal five minutes from time courtesy of Mbesuma but it was too little too late.
