Premier Soccer League AmaZulu Kaizer Chiefs

George Lebese completed a brace in optional time as League leaders Kaizer Chiefs edged bottom club AmaZulu 2-1 in Durban on Wednesday night.

Man of the Match Lebese proved the hero for Amakhosi after Bongani Ndulula opened the scoring in the 22nd minute at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

There were chances either end early on, as Ndulula and Zambian hitman Bornwell Mwape triggered saves from Brilliant Khuzwayo, while Mandla Masango and Siphiwe Tshabalala had cracks on goal for Chiefs.

The hosts, though, drew first blood midway through the stanza, as Ndulula pounced on the rebound from close range after his new Bafana Bafana teammate Khuzwayo blocked a Goodman Dlamini effort following a stinging strike against the woodwork from Tshepo Liphoko.

Chiefs dominated the possession stakes but were unable to hit back before the interval, with Bernard Parker squeezing an attempt wide of the target in the 40th minute.

Mwape kept Khuzwayo on his toes with a shot on the angle in the 59th minute.

The Glamour Boys, however, equalised on the hour-mark, as midfielder Lebese rifled in a left-footed volley after being teed up by Parker.

Lebese nearly put the visitors in front eight minutes later but his diving header was foiled by the woodwork.

Lebese, though, was not be denied, as he tapped in from close range at the death after Tshabalala's free-kick hit the crossbar.

11 point lead at the top. Ja neh, it will take a really good run from any team to topple Chiefs this season.

Shabba and Parker, one must be on the bench. George is a gud player. Well played, but let's be honest Amazulu played well, though it was expected towards the end they wanted a draw.

I agree, our players must improve their decision making. @ that level players should know when to pass & when to shoot, tjerrrr they will give us heart attacks
