PSL Absa Premiership: Mamelodi Sundowns vs Mpumalanga Black Aces

Posted: 5 November 2014 Time: 19:21

Mpumalanga Black Aces did enough to hold on for a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday night.

Clive Barker's men put up a brave display in front of an expectant crowd in Atteridgeville to extend their run to seven Premiership games without defeat.

Sundowns were on a similarly solid run of form and are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions.

Sundowns enjoyed the lion's share of possession during the early exchanges and poked plenty of holes in Aces' defence.

Katlego Mashego, Surprise Moriri and Cuthbert Malajila all had early chances, but some good work from Jackson Mabokgwane kept his side in the contest in the opening quarter.

Aces hit back with a tame long-range effort after the half-hour mark, but Denis Onyango, who made his first appearance of the season, was up to the task.

Moriri came closest to breaking the deadlock late in the first half but his shot somehow went over the bar in what was the game's best chance up until that point.

Level at the break, Sundowns looked unsettled in the second half and struggled to create any meaningful chances.

That soon changed as Billiat and Tebogo Langerman had the AmaZayoni defence at sixes and sevens, but neither could test Mabokgwane.

That's how it would end as the two teams walked away a point in hand.

HOME: Mamelodi Sundowns

Coach: Pitso Mosimane
Formation: four three three

AWAY: Mpumalanga Black Aces

Coach: Clive Barker
Formation: four two three one

Hows about you comment and address me on the points I have highlighted which Im disputing than to stoop so low and attack my character than my convictions?

sandawana187  We are all frustrated by the team not converting chances into goals, but what you need understand is the very same teams also field 11 players and have a game plan when they play, quality of players is relative.

If quality was the only determining factor, PSG, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, Man U, Man C and Porto would be winning all their matches with big scores when playing against smaller teams and just promoted teams but that is not how things work, there is a huge difference between reality and wishful thinking Dawana.

Ngqondo "quality of players is relative" - This here, did it for me. The sooner people realize the truthfulness in that statement, the better. I have been saying this forever. Good point. Ta!

Black4ever #SRM 1 Wome is doing what SSU hired him for there in nothing wrong with what he is doing, he is scoring winning goals but his team is not better than Sundowns, they are below in the log standings and both Sundowns and SSU are in the semis of Telkom. Him being at SSU did not render Sundowns worse-off.

Talking about other teams running off with the league what is your team doing or where are they in the log standings?

MichaelMcSundowns Keep fooling yourself that such things happen in football but you and I know that you do not have a  starting 11 that has continuity to the next game. It is not only against Aces that Pitso has made such a statement, he has made it on three occasions already, doesn't that sound repetitive. This seems to always fly past your brain I guess.

Calm down and look at what is not going right within your team rather than insinuating that I come from the bundus however if that makes you happy I am at peace with that.

If you have a chance to speak to any player for that matter and find out what happens when they do not play and yet they are training week in week out with the objective to being in the starting 11, maybe you'll get some insight of how footballers think and behave.

Ngqondo Black4ever #SRM 1  My point I bring across with Wome's example is he is still a Downs player loaned out. He was performing whilst at Downs this is not something new, how do you loan out a preforming player and leave behind non  preforming players just my observation.

Any way my team re struggling and that is a fact and will not hide behind any circumstances. I think defensively we are poor and have costs us valuable points and I have raised that on many occasion and will do so in the future

Black4ever #SRM 1 Im of the opinion that I have somehow I hit a disturbing nerve.
Let me break it down to you in  point format maybe this time you'll understand better.

1. "Keep fooling yourself that such things happen in football but you and I know that you do not have a starting 11 that has continuity to the next game" - You see here, Im wondering if you read this statement first before posting the comment. You making me think that you really have a problem in thinking or you never pay attention to football. It's 11 against 11. When one team is attacking full on and are unable to break the defence no matter how many times and how many strategies they unleash, this tells you that it wasn't meant to be and that luck wasn't on the attacking team's side. SUCH THINGS DO HAPPEN IN FOOTBALL.....wake the hell up, Think please!!
- And it would see you're confusing yourself when you say that we do not have a starting 11. One thing you forget about football is that different games requires different plan tactically and different approach. You can not always start with the same 11 every time, but you can have about 8 or 9 "stay players", known as regular starters. The other 3 or 2 players you can interchange them when necessary.
Sundown's "stay players" for the past 7 games have been: Mweene, Mphahlele, Booysens, Langerman, Nthete, Modise, Kekana and Malajila. The other 3 have been interchanged between Pelembe, Zwane, Moriri, Mahoota, Ejike and Zungu. So exactly what do you mean Sundowns doesn't have a starting 11? Do you really know football?

2. I am actually looking at what is wrong with my team, which is the conversion of goal scoring opportunities. When it comes to creating chances I am happy, we just need to convert. And we havent lost a game in 8 games now,.....although these draws are a reason for concern.....so what's your problem really?

3. You failed to realize that I was not entertaining your insinuation of what footballers think....I was entertaining your notion that Pitso is trying to please every one. If this was the case and if this was true, we wouldn't be having these 8 stay players game in and game out. It would be different players all the time. Pity your so hung up on negativity relating to Sundowns and then you forgot to see the facts and the truth staring you in your face.

4. And lastly, You claim that Pitso made "such" statements on three occasions already. I happen to always listen to Pitso every match interview. So those three occasions are in reference to which games exactly? Please enlighten me. If you forgot, then go and google. But do not make unfounded statements without proof just so you can drive a measly point home.

I hope I taught you something today. This topic ends here. IM DONE!!!
