PSL Absa Premiership: Mamelodi Sundowns vs Mpumalanga Black Aces

Posted: 5 November 2014 Time: 19:21

Mpumalanga Black Aces did enough to hold on for a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday night.

Clive Barker's men put up a brave display in front of an expectant crowd in Atteridgeville to extend their run to seven Premiership games without defeat.

Sundowns were on a similarly solid run of form and are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions.

Sundowns enjoyed the lion's share of possession during the early exchanges and poked plenty of holes in Aces' defence.

Katlego Mashego, Surprise Moriri and Cuthbert Malajila all had early chances, but some good work from Jackson Mabokgwane kept his side in the contest in the opening quarter.

Aces hit back with a tame long-range effort after the half-hour mark, but Denis Onyango, who made his first appearance of the season, was up to the task.

Moriri came closest to breaking the deadlock late in the first half but his shot somehow went over the bar in what was the game's best chance up until that point.

Level at the break, Sundowns looked unsettled in the second half and struggled to create any meaningful chances.

That soon changed as Billiat and Tebogo Langerman had the AmaZayoni defence at sixes and sevens, but neither could test Mabokgwane.

That's how it would end as the two teams walked away a point in hand.

HOME: Mamelodi Sundowns

Coach: Pitso Mosimane
Formation: four three three

AWAY: Mpumalanga Black Aces

Coach: Clive Barker
Formation: four two three one

You have resurfaced Dawana the last time I heard from you was when you were being molested by Pirates and Chiefs fans for fighting over high school girls and some Sundowns fans came to your defence.

Where must Pitso go and for what reason exactly, which coach do you want to take over.

All the clubs Pitso has coached he has won trophies for you to say he cannot make it at club level shows your lack of SA soccer knowledge.

I suggest next you do some research before showing your lack of knowledge and being a part time soccer fan.

Manqoba has been fired by all the teams he has been a head coach of and Pitso was never fired by any club in his coaching career so I don't understand how can be better than Pitso.

If he never been fired why was he taking safa to CCMA?

You mean he won trophies at Supersport united that is the only team he has coached. For your information I ve been a supporting Downs since 1992.

Is he not currently a Sundowns coach, has he not won a trophy?

I started supporting Sundowns in 1988 I was 3 years away from being a teenager, but that does not mean I know more than you just because I have more years as a supporter.

I dont care if Aces,Wits,Ajax can defend! they just dont have the quality we have, there is something wrong between  Pitso and the players! we cant play draws while defending the league and drawing against newly promoted teams.i would understand if we playing with youngsters and average players

sandawana187  "We deserved to win, we played good football for 90 mins, that's football. They came with a  goal and they achieved it."

Can someone explain to this moron named Pitso that all opposition teams come with  2 goal. 1 Win the game  or 2 Draw and get a point away from home.

Wome is scoring goals next door like his getting them from a lucky packet. You busy trying out combinations  and not worried about other teams that are running away with the league.

Problem : Too many players and you trying to make them happy. That's not possible, you laughed when Baxter spoke of harmony its important

Last night, Sundowns was just unlucky, plain and simple. And such things do happen in football. And Pitso was right, it was a one-way traffic. We were just unlucky on the night. We were knitting brilliant passes on the final third and every-time we were on attack, we were excruciatingly dangerous. All that needs to happen now is for players to start thinking outside the box especially on the final third. We need  players to have a decisive mentality and commit to such decisions. When there's an opportunity to shoot, do so....and not pass the ball around. Although it would've been great to have amassed maximum points, nonetheless, I was really happy with the performance. Keep it up.
Well done to Chiefs...the never-say-die attitude you possess is what's making you undefeated at the moment. Big up.

Black4ever #SRM 1 What Wome is doing at the moment is none of Sundowns' concern for this season as he'll only be eligible to play for Downs next season. He isn't a player of Downs....what he's busy doing at SSU is neither here nor there. So that point you making is rather null and void.
It's not all opposition teams "you moron"....it is EVERY TEAM. Pitso was only highlighting the fact that Aces achieved their goal and Sundowns didnt manage to achieve theirs. Simple as that....nothing much to it and nothing sinister to it......pity that point flied past your brain .... and too fast.
Unless somehow you are part of Sundowns technical team, I fail to see how, where or when is Pitso trying to make players happy. If that was the case, he would be overhauling his starting 11 EVERY SINGLE game. So that's not happening, again,,,,,this point also is useless and baseless.
Yes, Sundowns deserved to win last night, he is right about that....but as luck would have it, that didnt materialize.....in case you were living under some rock somewhere in the bundus, let me be the first to make you realize that....SUCH THINGS DO HAPPEN IN FOOTBALL. No team is immune to it.
