Mamelodi Sundowns captain Alje Schut has been ruled out of this weekend’s League match against Free State Stars as he is still recovering from a knee injury, as he remains on the sidelines alongside team mates Rheece Evans and Flavio Bento.
The 33-year-old defender suffered a freak accident at home two weeks ago which left him needing twelve stitches. Schut hasn’t played a match since suffering an ankle injury against Orlando Pirates on 27 August.
“Schut hasn’t even started training with other players, he is certainly out for this weekend,” Sundowns communications coordinator Thulani Thuswa tells KickOff.com. “He needs to train with the rest of the team before he can be considered.
“Rheece Evans is a long way off from recovering from his groin injury. Flavio Bento had just had a knee operation and he will need some time to recover.
“But the good news are Khama [Billiat] who had a ‘dead leg’ as a well as Teko Modise are back.”
Sundowns take on Ea Lla Koto at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening.
