Absa Premiership Chippa United Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 22 October 2014 Time: 21:38

Chippa United drew 1-1 with champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, with Thamsanqa Sangweni scoring a superb goal before getting sent off for the Chilli Boys.

Sundowns opened the scoring via Cuthbert Malajila in the 30th minute, but Sangweni equalised with a curling free-kick against his former side on the hour-mark at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Sangweni was given his marching orders with four minutes to go after receiving a second caution for holding back Tebogo Langerman.

The Brazilians started positively and applied pressure form the word go – they finally made it count when a mistake in the Chippa defence allowed Khama Billiat to steal the ball and unselfishly square for Malajila who scored into an empty net, 1-0.

The visitors could not add to their goal tally and were made to pay in the second half after a spirited performance from Chippa United.

The home side began seeing more of the ball in the second 45 and found their reward with the equaliser in the 60th minute courtesy of a Sangweni strike, 1-1.

Downs tried to find a winner after that, but the closest they came was a Mario Booysen header in the 80th minute that was well-saved by the keeper.

Despite earning a share of the spoils, the night did end on a rather sour note for Chippa following the dismissal of Sangweni, who picked up an automatic two-match ban.

The draw is Sundowns' third of the season and sees them stuck in fourth place on the log with 15 points from their nine games, a staggering 10 points adrift of current league leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who drew 1-1 with Moroka Swallows in a simultaneous fixture.

Chippa, on the other hand, despite many expecting them to struggle this season are up to eighth on the table with 14 points, only three points adrift of second-placed Ajax Cape Town.

HOME: Chippa United

Coach: Roger Sikhakhane
Formation: four four two

AWAY: Mamelodi Sundowns

Coach: Pitso Mosimane
Formation: four two three one

That is the problem of being part_time soccer fan who knows nothing, Chiefs fans who are knowledgeable about soccer are busy on the other article analysing how your team played but you being clueless about soccer you are here concerned about what Pitso is going to say.

Eissh some fans are just a disappointment.

I guess Chiefs won since you say Sundowns is dead.

@Sithembiso, lol. I saw him walking away after that. Rumour has it that he laid a charge against Kamza @ Supersport offices. He says the guy speaks top notch English and he embarassed him on National tv.

not what I expected from this game it was a rather dull affair with both teams struggling to find some sort of rhythm, chippa united just shaving play. Teko's absence later on cost downs the spoils here, gingles need to get his house in order or else. They are just like bucs, lost in the wilderness and both need to smell the coffee or chimpanzees will run easily away with it. Once and always bucs.

saddened with a draw anyway. Pitsoso, you need to have plan B when you see the team struggling to score more goals. we're not like the zebrish that can defend a one-nil for the entire 90 minutes.

And Sundowns also lost against Chiefs last season (Wayne Arendse) the goal scorer, so this argument is just used for no apperent reason.

wenene you fail to realize that not everyone understands idioms and the logic behind them. Most of the people in the country speak clear straight forward English. Pitso isn't an English man, and he's certainly not an English teacher. Idioms gets the better of most of us EVEN you for that matter. I could throw an idiom to you that would require you to go and google to have an understanding. Pitso didn't have the advantage of having a smartphone or laptop to google "embarrassment of riches", this is why he asked Kamza to explain himself, in his words he said "speak proper English"....that in itself should tell you that he clearly didn't understand what he meant and needed Kamza to explain himself. Such things do happen in life, even you aren't immune to it. There's plenty of English idioms that you don't understand yourself, don't think just because you were lucky to understand Kamza on the spot suddenly makes you intelligent.
And FYI, English is just a mere language, it doesn't prove someone's IQ level or intelligence for that matter.

How about filling fnb stadium which is less than 100k capacity that should be easier considering you allege to have millions of supporters to our 67.

Thought pelembe was everywhere and nowhere near his best yesterday.had few wayward passes and thought he wouldve been substituted earlier.would like to see zwane playing as a cum striker like moriri than killing opposition on the wingmlet him damage them closer to the poles.

Silver Line KBY  The problem is the central midfield after Teko was substituted nobody took over from him to control the game, you cannot expect Pelembe to play in that area and Chippa exploited that area. If Moriri was available he could have plugged that area.

But I am impressed with our defence they have picked up their socks and Kudashe did his bit to cover for Mphahlele, very impressed by his work rate.

We need to take the point and move on.

Ngqondo So true, after the Navigator left, there was a void and Chippa did well to exploit it. No one had the guts to fill that gap, in fact, we didn't have anyone on the pitch to fill Teko' space....Mahachi maybe?

MichaelMcSundowns wenene  No Dawana this professor of English needs to call Kamza so that next time he does interviews he can explain the idioms to the coaches, @wenene thinks he is smatter than Pitso just because he did not understand the idiom. Kamza is the only one who comes with idioms other presenters speak simple and straight English either to players or coaches.

Because Pitso is not of sacred of anybody he told Kamza  to speak simple English and he had to go to Pitso level and explain himself to which Pitso answered and finished the interview and left Kamza smiling sheepishly.

MichaelMcSundowns Ngqondo Indeed, and it forced us to play long balls which is not our game. I was disappointed with:

- Poor quality of crosses from Langerman and Mphahlele

- Billiat played out of position

- The "wall" did not even attempt to block the free- kick by Sangweni. Instead Langerman pulled his head away from the ball and covered his face after realising that it went in. I hope Pitso picks up on this error.

wenene Y do S africans likes to shine with what they were not born with sometimes? Pitso is not someone whom you think he can fail to express himself in english, Ok let's assume that you were pitso on that interview: Were you going to understand what the guy was trying to say? ooooooh Yes u were since you're commenting on Kickoff and nobody knows u and how you express yourself.

Listen Bra: If you're a real football follower you won't take what happend yesterday to pitso as something to shine with, the guy is a professional and he's a coach like all other coaches. But maybe you're better than him with "your small brain"
