Absa Premiership University of Pretoria SuperSport United

SuperSport United continued their resurgence under Gordon Igesund as they dispatched ten-man University of Pretoria 3-0 on Saturday for their third straight win in the Absa Premiership.

AmaTuks defender Grant Kekana endured a miserable outing, as he scored an own goal before conceding a penalty which was duly slotted by Clayton Daniels.

Loan signing Dove Wome added a third goal in the 64th minute, with Vuyisile Ntombayithethi seeing red soon after at Tuks Stadium.

The result saw Matsatsantsa nudge Mpumalanga Black Aces - who earlier edged struggling Moroka Swallows 3-2 - out of fifth spot on the table after eight matches.

Neighbouring Tuks are in danger as they currently reside two points above the drop zone.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides, but fell behind in the 20th minute via the boot of a hapless Kekana. The former Matsatsanta right-back attempted to hack David Mathebula's cross away from danger, but ended up putting the ball past his keeper.

Thuso Phala and Geofrey Massa both went close soon after before Kekana squandered a glorious chance to make up for his earlier error.

Khethukuthula Zwane played in a superb corner-kick, but Kekana could only manage to direct his header over Ronwen Williams's crossbar from close range in the 39th minute.

Kekana's day went from bad to worse on the stroke of half-time.

The AmaTuks defender dove into a challenge inside the area, only succeeding in bringing down Dino Ndlovu.

Daniels stepped up and coolly slotted the ball past Washington Arubi, making it 2-0 at the break.

Massa looked to get the hosts back into the game and almost did pull one back in the 55th minute. His free-kick beat the wall, but not Williams who pulled off a superb save.

Wome extended SuperSport's lead, tapping in from close range shortly past the hour-mark.

Ntombiayithethi was then sent off following a dangerous tackle on Bafana Bafana fullback Sibusiso Khumalo in the 67th minute to completely dent the home side's chances of getting something out of the game.

Massa and Khumalo went close at either end in the final 10 minutes. The Uganda international forcing Williams into a good save while Khumalo's thunderous effort from range sailed just wide.

Its a good thing that SSU are winning games its good competition for the league...I can't believe we are led to believe that the Ratties and Dunus are big teams when they have fans who are backing SSU to win the league rather than their own teams....ayikhona #KCInspireGreatness
