Booysen: Maritzburg United drawing on Chiefs lessons ahead of Platinum Stars clash

Posted: 15 October 2014 Time: 15:08

David Booysen said Maritzburg United aim to use what they learnt from their losses to Kaizer Chiefs when they host Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership on Saturday night.

United recently suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Amakhosi in the League and Telkom Knockout.

Booysen, though, is upbeat ahead of their next test at Harry Gwala Stadium.

He told his club's website: “We learnt a lot from the two games against Chiefs. If we can take those lessons into the Platinum Stars match, and apply the same mentality and attitude, then I’m confident we have a good chance of getting the three points.”

The 25-year-old added: “Stars don’t have the big-name players like Chiefs, but they have unity in their ranks and have been playing well as a team for a few seasons now. We at Maritzburg are in a similar position, our strength is also in our unity and togetherness as a squad.”

The Team of Choice are eighth on the table with nine points from seven matches - 12 points adrift of leaders Chiefs, and one point ahead of 12th-placed Dikwena.

Stay humble young man and dont be ashamed to acknowledge the difference KC has made to your life. Some dont realize that when we (KC) punish a child (a team) we want to impart knowledge, case in point, Booysen. I'm sure many successful folk thank their teachers for the extent of coporal punishment back in the day. Prof. Tuntufye Mwamwenda, in his book; Educational Psychology:An African Perspective, says "when there is change in behaviour, learning process has occured...". Look no further than Booysen.

It's a pity that some (teams) have prefered to keep their "learning" to themselves; it's nice to share, starting with the MTN8 teams that failed to score one goal against us...surely they learnt something, although they cant say it loud. I'm eagerly awaiting some testimony...

Reason why this team is losing is simply because they don’t comprehend in what Steve says in the changing room (good English)
