David Booysen said Maritzburg United aim to use what they learnt from their losses to Kaizer Chiefs when they host Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership on Saturday night.
United recently suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Amakhosi in the League and Telkom Knockout.
Booysen, though, is upbeat ahead of their next test at Harry Gwala Stadium.
He told his club's website: “We learnt a lot from the two games against Chiefs. If we can take those lessons into the Platinum Stars match, and apply the same mentality and attitude, then I’m confident we have a good chance of getting the three points.”
The 25-year-old added: “Stars don’t have the big-name players like Chiefs, but they have unity in their ranks and have been playing well as a team for a few seasons now. We at Maritzburg are in a similar position, our strength is also in our unity and togetherness as a squad.”
The Team of Choice are eighth on the table with nine points from seven matches - 12 points adrift of leaders Chiefs, and one point ahead of 12th-placed Dikwena.
