Mpumalanga Black Aces’ PRO Gordon Masondo dismisses speculation of Thanduyise Khuboni’s possible departure in January

Posted: 19 September 2014 Time: 08:46

Mpumalanga Black Aces’ PRO Gordon Masondo has dismissed speculation that Thanduyise Khuboni is set to leave the club in January.

According to a source close to Khuboni, the Durban-born defensive midfielder is unhappy with his lack of game-time at AmaZayoni, where he is yet to make an appearance in the team’s six League matches so far.

“‘Gonondo’ is concerned with his lack of game-time at Aces.  Despite his unhappiness, he is still putting in hard work at each and every training session to convince coach Clive (Barker), with the hope that he will finally get a place in the team,” said the source, who preferred to remain anonymous.

Khuboni, who was a regular and the captain at his former team Lamontville Golden Arrows, joined Aces during the pre-season transfer window, along with his former teammate and defender at Abafana Bes’thende, Mzivukile Tom following the Durban side’s relegation to the National First Division.

Though Tom has managed to make three starts so far, Khuboni has only made one start in the club’s MTN 8 quarterfinal’s  4-0 defeat  to Kaizer Chiefs, where he was substituted by Mabhuti Khenyeza in the second half.

But according to Masondo, Khuboni is still a happy man at Aces and still very much part of coach Barker’s plans.

“I can confirm to you that Khuboni is still happy here at Aces and still forming an important part of the team’s squad," Masondo said.

"He is currently working hard like any other players at training, fighting his way into the team’s first eleven.  And it must be understood that Aces has some in-form players right now in Khuboni’s position, so he is fighting hard to win back his place.

"So there is no truth at all in those allegations that he would be put on the transfer list in January."

We know about coaches who want players that always fake a smile in front of them, have problems with characters that don't do that.I am a victim too.Barker seem to be that kind, Middendorp and Muhsin are the same.

Well I did mention this b4 the start of the season that its like Aces are signing players for the sake of signing them otherwise how do u xplain the signing of so many central midfielders..... Khuboni, nengomasha and gymah(though they sometimes play him in defense). Already they had Zuke, Ngobeni and Okonkwo in that position

Mshumayeli and Gymah should take that central middle I say it again this madala is losing it now, he has been one of my best Coaches but now he just lost it; the regular starters there more especially from mid to front...Khuboni, Gymah, Ngoma, Zuke, Mabhuti, Ndoro and Nale then you can add from here...so these 6-7 players you add 4-5 including defenders and Goal keeper
