PSL Absa Premiership: Moroka Swallows vs Chippa United

Posted: 14 September 2014 Time: 14:41

Chippa United secured their first points away from home this season with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Moroka Swallows.

Second-half goals from Ugonna Uzochukwu and David Zulu took the Chilli Boys to victory, though a controversial red card for the Birds’ Anver Esterhuizen had a major effect on the outcome of the match.

Chippa started brightly and almost opened the scoring in the third minute through Chris Komane, who headed just wide of the near post from a corner kick. Two minutes later William Twala lobbed the ball wide of goal, with debutant ‘keeper Sage Stephens having rushed brashly off his line.

Midway through the first half, Chippa’s George Akpabio was guilty of missing a clear opportunity. David Zulu played his strike partner through on goal with a perfectly weighted ball, but Akpabio somehow chipped the ball wide with only Stephens to beat.

Swallows worked their way into the game and began to create opportunities, but their hopes were dealt a massive blow in the final minute of regulation time in the first half when referee Lwandile Mfiki inexplicably sent off debutant Anver Esterhuizen for a supposed elbow into the face of Ugonna Uzochukwu. Television replays suggested it was an incredibly harsh call from the official.

It didn’t take long after the resumption for the Chilli Boys to take advantage of their numerical superiority. A corner kick routine saw Mpho Mvelase attempt a shot which skewed off the side of his foot, only to turn into a perfect cross for Uzochukwu to head home from close range.

On 73 minutes Chippa doubled their lead. Again Mvelase was the architect, providing a lovely assist from the right by-line that allowed David Zulu to run onto his pass across the face of goal before finding the top corner from a tight angle with an ice-cool finish.

We are all sad brue but there is Hope, when you were very Young Swallows once brought some guys from Chille and their First 6 months they looked hopeless but After that all the Big Teams were After their signature. These were Mario Varaz, Raúl Gonzalenz and Eddie Camphadonic. Mandic and Savic will be Good Players very soon. May be we Need a Couch for the Defence and i am Not sure if Mapedi is still with Swallows but he has failed to get us a defender from Malawi. What is Urgent is the two Strikers. The Brazillian DOS Santos in a midfielder too. I am Not sure if Zaca and Leon Prins do read our comments. Thank you again to Hundai , i Hope they have injected Good Money and they Must make sure the Hyndai Brand does Not go to mud so do your best to ensure Swallows is a Great Team.

Birds: it looks like the relegation battle is on, so early in the season the question is do we have a coach that can pull us out of this misery?
