PSL Absa Premiership: Moroka Swallows vs Chippa United

Posted: 14 September 2014 Time: 14:41

Chippa United secured their first points away from home this season with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Moroka Swallows.

Second-half goals from Ugonna Uzochukwu and David Zulu took the Chilli Boys to victory, though a controversial red card for the Birds’ Anver Esterhuizen had a major effect on the outcome of the match.

Chippa started brightly and almost opened the scoring in the third minute through Chris Komane, who headed just wide of the near post from a corner kick. Two minutes later William Twala lobbed the ball wide of goal, with debutant ‘keeper Sage Stephens having rushed brashly off his line.

Midway through the first half, Chippa’s George Akpabio was guilty of missing a clear opportunity. David Zulu played his strike partner through on goal with a perfectly weighted ball, but Akpabio somehow chipped the ball wide with only Stephens to beat.

Swallows worked their way into the game and began to create opportunities, but their hopes were dealt a massive blow in the final minute of regulation time in the first half when referee Lwandile Mfiki inexplicably sent off debutant Anver Esterhuizen for a supposed elbow into the face of Ugonna Uzochukwu. Television replays suggested it was an incredibly harsh call from the official.

It didn’t take long after the resumption for the Chilli Boys to take advantage of their numerical superiority. A corner kick routine saw Mpho Mvelase attempt a shot which skewed off the side of his foot, only to turn into a perfect cross for Uzochukwu to head home from close range.

On 73 minutes Chippa doubled their lead. Again Mvelase was the architect, providing a lovely assist from the right by-line that allowed David Zulu to run onto his pass across the face of goal before finding the top corner from a tight angle with an ice-cool finish.

We understand that to err is human but why is it only one man that does mistakes all the time?

It's high time PSL suspends this guy before we see another Vuvuzela guy maybe something more dangerous this time.

Up the Bucs!

The Referee was terrible but also Swallows Need to sacrifice at once just spending and getting two ruthles Strikers. The current Team can not be blamed. There is Nobody who is taking the pressure from Nomvethe.

Thats True brue but we had a Good Player on the left Mokgothu, then Mapemba right back, then we should have use Larry Cohen and Mngomeni in Defence that was Not going to be terrible. We Need Nomvethe now for 30 minutes. I was shocked that Swallows refüsed Masango from Chiefs and Chose Cele. There are very Good Players in Africa and Swallows Must Hire a scout Person to get the best foreigners from Africa, Free State stars have done that before bringing Jonathan Messah, Wome, Mwinee, Okorinko very unknown Players. Swallows bring a foreign Keeper to be in the bench. Also very average foreigners. Swallows can get Good Players from Amajimbos and Amajita too. There is nö Chief of scouts from Swallows and i Wonder if they watch the CAF Games. The tall Striker who came Late for Nigeria against Bafana can easily join any Team in the PSL. Hyndai will be disappointed to Sponsor an average Team.

Now that we (swallows) have secured the sponsor we must break the bank & sign the quality high profile coach, 2 quality strikers, 2 central defenders, 2 midfielders b4 it's 2 late otherwise we'll find ourselves languishing around the drop zone as usual, this Zeca thing is clueless, useless & wasteful

I did concur with Papic few weeks back when he talked about the scoring prowess of David Zulu and some readers here who comment for the sake of commenting without watching all Psl teams, had a go at Papic sayin he was doin a cheap marketing strategy for Zulu. I hope one day these readers can stop watching only Pirates Chiefs and Sundowns only.

Nkunzy My broer, there's nothing wrong with our coach, Leon Prins is the problem. He's the 1 who sign players after being convinced by his agents-friends. Look @ our defence, I am 35 now, I've never played prof football but I am sure I can do better that this manic boy @ the back. he's slow, hesitating in making tackles. We are good in the middle. you are 100% about our central defence, i hate to see my lovely Birds loose like fools. Nale mbuzi enguLwandile Mfiki, I've never been angry like this b4 ngenxa ye-soccer. Mfiki added salt in our miserable wounds in this game.
