Moroka Swallows will welcome back hard-tackling midfielder Lantshene Phalane when they face Chippa United on Sunday after the player served his two-match suspension.
The ex-University of Pretoria man, 24, received a red card against Mamelodi Sundowns in a 2-0 defeat last month but says he has learnt his lesson and wants to focus on contributing in a positive way for Swallows.
"I need to focus now and stop getting suspensions," he tells KickOff.com. "There is more to come in terms of goals, and not getting suspensions, but scoring goals."
The former Platinum Stars player says that he doesn't want to be a targeted player like Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande. The Zimbabwean's hard tackles in the middle of the park have given him a reputation in the League, but that is not something Phalane wants for himself.
"I don't want to be a target like Katsande and the coach [Zeca Marques] spoke to me regarding the red card because it was retaliation. I need to make sure that I don't have short temper when I play," he says.
Phalane, who was impressive so far this season before his dismissal, will be available when Swallows host Chippa at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, as will new signing Anver Esterhuizen. Kick-off is at 15h00 and entry is free.
