Uzoenyi: Mamelodi Sundowns can conquer Africa

Posted: 9 September 2014 Time: 14:08

Mamelodi Sundowns newcomer Ejike Uzoenyi feels the team is on its way to becoming “the best in Africa”.

The Absa Premiership champions have repeatedly stressed their desire to emulate Orlando Pirates' CAF Champions League triumph in 1995.

And Uzoenyi believes there is ample talent and drive at Chloorkop to achieve their ambitions.

“Sundowns have all the talent one can imagine and are on their way to be the best team in Africa,” Uzoenyi told Sundowns' official website. “There is a good combination of talented youngsters and remarkable experienced players.

“Plus Pitso Mosimane is an ambitious coach who is never satisfied with local honours. He wants to conquer Africa and the team seems to be of the same view, which is very good for a big team like Sundowns.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian attacker said he is eager to make an impact for the big-spending Brazilians. Uzoenyi registered his Downs debut against AmaZulu earlier this month following his move from Enugu Rangers in his homeland.

“I have always been a hard-working player, whether at training or during a match and when I joined Sundowns I knew I had to work hard to break into the team due to the talent on offer at the club,” he said.

“There’s a whole lot more to play for which means everyone will get an opportunity to play, whether locally or in the Champions league and I want to contribute to both.”

TEKO, EJIKE, PELEMBE on the same club. Can these hating niggaz start asking us WHERE IS EJIKE or they will hide in the caves until bad news come out?

If your team is still thinking twice about playing in CAF then shut up.

The result against pirates, Ajax & platinum show that Sundowns are a long way away from realizing this dream. They have the quality but they are not playing as a unit. They are not sharp like pirates or chiefs.

Uzoenyi, you are a liar mfanakithi. Last week you made noise in telling us how Nigeria is so powerful, today you start another chapter full of lies. If you are getting pushed by nyaope, leave it quickly.

I think sundowns overdid it by buying so many big name Players, you need good players to play aroung your 2 or 3 stars. You can't have a team of only stars.

I also don't think pitso is the right man to lead a star studded team like sundowns. There are just too many variables in a set up like sundowns. I m not saying I know pitso but the little I know doesn't give me much confidence in the man: lack of clear football philosophy, crying in the touchline, post match interviews, the uncorodinated buying of players under his rule and he tends to be too emotional.
