Mamelodi Sundowns newcomer Ejike Uzoenyi feels the team is on its way to becoming “the best in Africa”.
The Absa Premiership champions have repeatedly stressed their desire to emulate Orlando Pirates' CAF Champions League triumph in 1995.
And Uzoenyi believes there is ample talent and drive at Chloorkop to achieve their ambitions.
“Sundowns have all the talent one can imagine and are on their way to be the best team in Africa,” Uzoenyi told Sundowns' official website. “There is a good combination of talented youngsters and remarkable experienced players.
“Plus Pitso Mosimane is an ambitious coach who is never satisfied with local honours. He wants to conquer Africa and the team seems to be of the same view, which is very good for a big team like Sundowns.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian attacker said he is eager to make an impact for the big-spending Brazilians. Uzoenyi registered his Downs debut against AmaZulu earlier this month following his move from Enugu Rangers in his homeland.
“I have always been a hard-working player, whether at training or during a match and when I joined Sundowns I knew I had to work hard to break into the team due to the talent on offer at the club,” he said.
“There’s a whole lot more to play for which means everyone will get an opportunity to play, whether locally or in the Champions league and I want to contribute to both.”
