Former Bidvest Wits striker Letsie Koapeng is set to sign a three-year contract with Orlando Pirates today.
“Yes I’m at Pirates as we speak. I might sign by the end of today. According to my agent, it’s a three-year deal but let’s wait and see. I will let you know when I sign,” said Koapeng.
“I was offered a chance to train with the guys and I worked hard to impress the coach and technical team. I’m so happy you know because I will get a chance to do what I love which is playing football.”
Koapeng was recently on trial at Mpumalanga Black Aces but couldn’t get a deal although he impressed the coach Clive Barker.
Reports that he could sign with Pirates came after the Diepkloof-born player was spotted at the Parktown-based club this past weekend during the match against the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona team.
A source close to the player earlier revealed to KickOff.com that the 22-year-old was poised to be given a deal at the Buccaneers after he impressed.
Koapeng was formerly on the books of Bloemfontein Celtic on a loan deal from The Students, but only made two appearances before he was shipped out to Chippa United.
But, at the end of last season, his contract expired at Wits and he was not offered fresh terms.
