Morne Nel inspired by Dumisani Msibi and Ayabulela Magqwaka’s call-ups

SuperSport United and national Under-20 midfielder Morne Nel says he is inspired by his peers Dumisani Msibi and Ayabulela Magqwaka’s call-ups to Bafana Bafana.

The national senior team is set to lock horns with Sudan and Nigeria in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday and Wednesday respectively.

Msibi, a newly promoted SuperSport United goalkeeper, and Ajax Cape Town defender Magqwaka are Nel’s respective teammates at SuperSport and Amajita.

Nel played a crucial role in Amajita’s midfied engine that saw them qualify for the 2015 CAF Youth Championships after beating Cameroon 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

“I’m really inspired by Dumisani and Ayabulela’s call-ups to Bafana Bafana. I wish them all the best, especially Dumisani who is my teammate at SuperSport,” says Nel, who featured in 13 matches last season in his debut Absa Premiership campaign.

“His [Msibi’s] Bafana Bafana call-up is a motivational factor and inspiration to me to double my efforts both at club and national team level.”

“I wish to thank coach Shakes [Mashaba] for calling me up to the national [Under-20] team despite my lack of game-time at SuperSport this season, as well as coach Cavin [Johnson] who gave me a chance to make my PSL debut last season.

“Despite his departure, life must go on and I’m determined to fight for my place in the squad under the new coach,” concludes the 18-year-old, who is yet to make an appearance this season.

you cant leave out Maluleka and lebese and take Nel ,no disrespect to Mashaba.GI suffered big time by leaving out jali and manyisa because they were on form.

Why not poi, you've got good reason to believe this, shakes is whoring out the bafana jersey anyway, so what's one more crazy selection going to do? Definitely no harm. He will give you a callup soon, don't worry. Form is not what he's looking for, patriotism is and by the sound of it you've got it poi. Once and always bucs.

Good player,I don't remember GI playing youngsters in his team.when he was with ajax he cried about the inexperience of players and the rigidness of the ajax playing style.needs a loan move elsewhere where he can play.

I think it's time for you to Join the Urban Warriors. Mr G.I. does not play, or don't know how to use 18 to 23 year old.

WeThinkWeKnowFootball That is true, with GI in-charge young stars will battle to get game time at SSU. Old timers all the way......

WeThinkWeKnowFootball That's exactly what is killing our football, the fact that these boys play in the National Junior teams means they're good and they need to be played, we can't have players starting to play at age 25, if we start them at age 17 then we will have a bright future for the national team and there'll be more players plying their trade overseas.
