Aces worsen SuperSport plight

SuperSport United’s stuttering start to the season continued unabated on Wednesday night when they were beaten 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium by Black Aces.
Second-half goals from Collins Mbesuma and Aubrey Ngoma powered AmaZayoni to their first win of the season and lifted them off the foot of the table at Matsatsantsa’s expense, with the Tshwane side having lost three of their four League matches thus far.
The first half featured no goals, though there was the drama of two players being sent off seven minutes before the break. Michael Morton and Sandile Zuke both saw red for retaliation, leaving both teams down to 10 men.
Earlier, the best chance fell the way of Aces’ Tendai Ndoro in the 12th minute after a blunder by Thamsanqa Teyise, but the Zimbabwean striker directed his shot wide of the goal with only goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to beat.
SuperSport threatened a goal early in the second half through Benett Chenene, who glanced a header just wide after getting on the end of a great cross from Thabo Moloi, but it was Aces who then began racking up the chances.
The visitors were finally rewarded midway through the second half when Collins Mbesuma, just a couple of minutes after entering the game as a substitute, put his side 1-0 up, finishing off an assist by Aubrey Ngoma.
In the 75th minute Ngoma went from provider to scorer, beating Williams with a right-footed shot after good set-up play from Tinashe Nengomasha to make it 2-0 and effectively kill off the home side’s challenge.
United did pull a goal back in injury time through substitute Dove Wome, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation for the Tshwane side.
