Blaise Lelo-Mbele in action for Orlando Pirates.

Mbele moving to PSG

Orlando Pirates management must be regretting the day they issued DR Congo international Blaise Lelo-Mbele his clearance following news that the striker has signed a long-term contract with French team, Paris Saint Germain.

Mbele, currently plying his trade in Tunisia with CS Sfaxien, is expected to join his new team when the transfer window period re-opens in January next year.

Mbele’s agent Bajo Bujani has confirmed that the player has signed a three-year deal with the Lique 1 side. They have only scored 12 goals in 14 games.

“The deal has been concluded and Sfaxien are happy with the offer that was made by the French. Lelo will only join his new team when the transfer window re-opens in January.”

“PSG lies 14th in the 20-team League, Sfaxien are also set to sign another player from Congo to replace Mbele, but unfortunately, at the moment I cannot reveal the name of the player. I can only you that he is an attacking midfielder playing for the DR Congo national team.”

As a Bhakaniya fan, i dont regret it one bit. For us he was a total flop. He missed so many clear cut chances, i ended up thinking he had been bribed. The guy never did anything to deserve to wear the black and white. That just shows how high the standards at Orlando Pirates are.

PIRATES HAS NEVER GIVEN LELO A CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF AND WHEN HE WAS USED HE WASN'T USED EFFECTIVELY,THAT GUY IS AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER!YOU CAN'T KEEP A PLAYER ON THE BENCH MOST OF THE TIME AND THE TIME YOU BRING HIM IN EXPECT HIM TO IMMEDIATELY SHOW AN IMPACT AND WHEN HE FAILS RELEASE HIM AS FAILURE...NO HE ISN'T A FAILURE!HE WASN'T GIVEN THE CHANCE TO SHOW HIS WORTH.NOW LOOK AT THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND SOCCER,THEY GAVE HIM A CHANCE AND HE HASN'T DISAPPOINTED THEM...THIS LEAVES US TO BITE OUR NAILS!SURGE ON LELO,I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN YOU!EL DRACO.BOTS.

What a story! I can't believe the writer failed to mention that Mbele is in the CAF Confederation Cup final with CS Sfaxien. Please continue to be a reliable source of information to your readers. Thank you.

Well i think it was not a matter of pirates not giving lelo a chance, i think it was a situation of having a player whos loyalties did not lie with the club. Lelo was always on the look out of an overseas contract just like okonko and as a result this tended to distract the players focus in the team since a european deal did not materialise at the time.

Lessons must be learnt from this by all in S.A. and at Bucs:
1.play players to their strengths and right positions.
2. be patient with players, boooing never helps!
3. good players will flourish when surrounded by quality, he wud have scored goals by the bucket load if he was in the tebogo moloi, enerst makhanya era!
4. so okwonkwo had a point about the quality of our soccer and overrated players!
SO THE ELLIS PARK CROWD BOOED LELO ALL THE WAY TO FRANCE? SOME SOCCER EXPERTS WE ARE IN S.A.

The problem is our coaches are run by the media, whatever the medias says is always right. the uninformed here say Bliase did not deserve to wear the Pirates jersey, It uis no mystery that our run in last CAF blaise was an in form player. To make matters worse , how can you ever right off a 19 yr old as a flop when he still has his whole life ahead of him to learn and improve. Only the not so smart would do that

Pinto: 2007-11-15 14:16

only the future will tell if lelo was actually a flop. but let's not forget that u cannot be if you won the golden boot at OP in your first year of contract. Lelo did it with 12 goals. u cannot be a flop if u scored in the caf cup against sundowns in the first leg and again in the second leg helping your team to go through the final. u cannot be a flop if in the first leg of the final u scored the first goal of your team. last but not the least u cannot be a flop i u r signed by a tunisian team and france team whose leagues are better than the PSL.

zulu: 2007-11-16 14:02

he has the talent this guy but should learn to play collectively

ELISHA: 2007-11-27 12:36

Guys i dont think the guy was a flop, maybe Lelo was at the right club at the wrong time.As people let us learn to be fair to one another ,so that if someone raises a point we will think about it and react in a way that everyone will benefit.

Fafalaza: 2007-11-27 16:22

Who says he wasn't given a chance? Let us not indulge in selective amnesia. Who can forget the countless easy chances, mostly ono-on-one with goalkeepers, that he fluffed? Stop this Bucs bashing, please! We only keep players who deliver for us, period It has happened to other teams/players. Henry was considered surplus to requirements at Juventus till Wenger came for him. So was Viera, the list is endless!Anyway, who is to say he'll succeed in France, I wouldn't be suprised if he soon moves on to China before coming back to beg Irvin to let him play again as so many have done.

Lelo you are the Hero.
Pirates voulait seulement tuer ton talent.
I wish you all the Best in your new French big Team,PSG.

This is very common in football over the world...players fail to make an impact at certain clubs and then they excel when they are in a different environment...in this case Tunisia proved ideal for Lelo to perfom...bt this does not mean at all that anyone is to blame at Pirates...PSG is a top side and Lelo will do well there having played for the biggest team in Africa..BHAKANIYA...guyz if remember Samuel Etoo waz once released by real madrid...Henry was released by Juventus....Pirates release Siyabonga nkosi all these guys went on to become great players at the clubs they joined...so gudluck to Lelo...but we don't regret releasing him at all...all this proves is that age cheating can be helpful sometimes coz there is no way that Lelo-Mbele can be born in 1987..when he has played Pro football for almost 10 years..
