PSL Match Report: Black Aces vs Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 13 August 2014 Time: 20:34

Kaizer Chiefs beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 in an exciting Absa Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday night.

Chiefs opened the scoring through Man of the Match Mandla Masango, who pounced on a defensive error from Aces to give his side the lead.

Aces hit back through a wonder goal by Aubrey Ngoma, whose first-time half-volley will be a contender for Goal of the Season.

But a bullet-finish from Reneilwe Letsholonyane on the stroke of half-time put Chiefs back into the ascendency.

The Amakhosi had the better of the chances in an end-to-end game, with George Maluleka denied on a number of occasions by the irrepressible Edwin Gyimah as well as Energy Murambadoro in the Aces goal.

Malukela also missed a sitter from four yards out when the ball hit his shoulder instead of his head, while Itumeleng Khune was at his best towards the end of the match to preserve his side's lead, keeping out Tendai Ndoro, Collins Mbesuma and Dennis Masina at vital moments.

Lufunot the coach knows wat he's doing bafe2,smtymz we hv to close shop whn its needed (towards dying minutes of da game) nd dats y he brings in defensive minded players to change approach nd keep concentration levels at their best.Dnt 4get hw we lost our title last season,Aces beat us in last minutes whn da game shud hv atleast ended in a 0-0 scoreline and freestate stars also scored an equaliser towards da end of da game whn we shud hv jst closed shop and defended our 1-0 lead,bt we chose to push numbers looking 4 da 2nd goal nd our defense lost shape nd discipline in da prosess nd we were caught napping,so i cn understand y he( baxter) put Gould,da only sub i cnt understand is Moleko

siyaz You views are spot on in my opinion khosi. I don't like these defensive substitutions when we should be closing out games.

however I understands Baxters reluctance to be offensive the full 90 minutes, last season we ran out of legs towards the end of the season. man management was terrible in that part. I think he is trying to manage the team according to fitness levels which are yet to peak so early on in the season.

the same can be said of the other teams. As much as I am happy with the start We have made, it is wrong to to be writing off the likes of Sundowns, Pirates etc ... professional players go through "conditioning" in the closed season, those teams that started pre_season preparations too early face player burn-out, those that started too late, well it will take a while to get going.

All in all I think we where we should be, its down to Baxter to manage our players so we can keep a good consistant pace this season.
