PSL SuperSport United Chippa United

SuperSport United beat newly promoted Chippa United 1-0 in the League on Tuesday night, with both sides having men sent off at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The hosts bagged their first points of the season thanks to Clayton Daniels' successful 25th minute penalty following a handball in the box by Bheki Nzunga.

Matsatsantsa's Prince Nxumalo and Chippa's Chris Komane were dismissed by referee Victor Gomes for challenging each other with raised studs in the 65th minute.

Togo international Dove Wome made his debut for SuperSport, and he was busy in the opening stages of the game. He flashed a strike at goal in the 10th minute which was saved by Tshepo Motsoeneng. Two minutes later and Benett Chenene passed to Wome inside the danger area and he drove his effort straight at Motsoeneng.

In the 27th minute Chippa got their first real chance on goal when Andile Mbenyane tested Ronwen Williams, but the Bafana Bafana keeper made a good save.

Just after the half-hour mark, Thuso Phala sent his shot straight at Motsoeneng with just the keeper to beat as the home side went in search of a second goal.

SuperSport came out firing after the break. In the 55th minute, Cavin Johnson's side missed a very good opportunity when Nxumalo failed to take advantage of a poor clearance by Motsoeneng.

A couple of minutes later and Phala put an effort wide of goal after good work by Nxumalo.

The match then took an unexpected turn with 25 minutes to go when Nxumalo and Komane were given their marching orders.

Chippa nearly snatched an 87th minute equaliser but Siyabonga Zulu's free-kick was denied by the post.

Hhayi hhayi...something must be done. I foresee another season with few goals and a leading goal scorer with lots of penalties (though he is currently injured). How do these guys expect us to fill up the stands if bedlala boring football. I'm starting to blame these coaching who play games not to lose instead of playing to win. Anywho back to the topic. SSU won but I think Mr Johnson must be starting to look for a job else. uyahamba lowamuntu.

MabandlaMkhize mfethu the problem is the mentality we have about soccer in SA. Its no longer a sport of talent but an opportunity to get rich in the expense of soccer lovers. I mean  Swallows coach wasn't even ashamed of saying we planned for a point but got 3. on the other side we have a MD who is busy chasing a team less player instead of promoting what he has from his dev and on the other side we have players like Kermit who cant score on an empty goal post and we still call u george Lebese and Mandla Masango youngsters and Yeye our god of soccer.. I mean with all this nonsense we wont go anywhere with football a SA nation
