AmaZulu midfielder Goodman Dlamini held up by paperwork issues

Posted: 11 August 2014 Time: 10:58

AmaZulu coach Craig Rosslee is hopeful star midfielder Goodman Dlamini will soon be available after he missed their Premiership opener against Ajax Cape Town due to paperwork issues.

Dlamini, who is Usuthu's reigning player of the season, was a notable absentee in yesterday's goalless draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

When asked about Dlamini's situation, Rosslee said: "We registered him and there was a bit of a fault with his documentation unfortunately. I don't know, you are asking the wrong person."

When pressed for more information, Rosslee replied: "I have got no idea. It's the info that we got from the League on Saturday and it sounds strange to me as well.

"Of course we missed him in there, he is our reigning best player for the club."

Meanwhile, Rosslee felt his side dominated the weekend contest despite lacking the services of Dlamini, Sadate Ouro Akoriko, Ayanda Dlamini, Bongani Ndulula, John Arwuah, Bonwell Mwape and Paul Were.

"I thought we dominated the game well, we started well in the first 20 and 25 minutes and we competed on the ball," he said.

"We had some good moves and we had a couple of good chances, which we should have finished. I thought we missed quite few  chances as we were sloppy in our passing in some patches and sloppy by giving the ball away cheaply.

"Right at the end I thought we could have sneaked the game after having two good chances in front of goal that we should have buried."

He added: "We had players out in the calibre of Akoriko, Paul Were, Bonwell, John Arwuah and 'Drogba' (Ndulula), Goodman Dlamini and Ayanda Dlamini not participating."

Arwuah was suspended after picking up a caution against Kaizer Chiefs in their last game of the previous campaign, while A. Dlamini is about 10 days away from full fitness after sustaining a knee injury in a pre-season match against Jomo Cosmos.

Meanwhile, Nkosinathi Mthiyane will be assessed by the club's doctors today after being forced off against the Urban Warriors with an arm injury.
