Kaizer Chiefs minus Karuru, Mngadi for Free State Stars Premiership opener

Posted: 9 August 2014 Time: 08:34

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed new signings Ovidy Karuru and Phakamani Mngadi are unavailable for their Premiership opener against Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium this afternoon.

Zimbabwean midfielder Karuru and winger Mngadi are still waiting on their work permit and clearance respectively following their move to Chiefs last month.

Karuru penned a three-year contract at Naturena, having previously played for Belgian outfit OH Leuven.

Mngadi linked up with Amakhosi on an 11-month loan deal from K.A.S. Eupen.

The Soweto giants are also without the services of injured trio Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker and Matthew Rusike.

Meanwhile, Glamour Boys coach Stuart Baxter says his unit will approach today's fixture with the same intensity they displayed in last weekend's 4-0 rout of Mpumalanga Black Aces in the MTN8.

"It will be the same challenge that we faced last week ahead of the MTN8 quarterfinal agains Black Aces," Baxter told his club's official website. "It is going to be another tough one. At this stage we all go into the game with little information about the opponents.

"We will approach the game with the same energy that we showed last weekend. We hope to display good football and gain the maximum points. Every point will be a matter of winning or losing the League title at the end."

The teams have met in 29 League matches since 1996, with Chiefs winning 18 times to Ea Lla Koto's three. Baxter's men won 2-0 on their previous visit to Bethlehem last season, but were held 1-1 at home.

The league will officially kickoff when the glamour boys take to the field, not the pre-season friendly we were watching last nite. Good luck to the lads, K4L!

There's nothing about the past here. Majoro is currently playing for ur team. So what's past about that. Sit down and watch Amakhosi cruise to 15 straight wins.
