Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says defeat is never easy, but adds that his players must accept that they won’t win every match, despite their abundance of resources.
The Absa Premiership champions came unstuck against Platinum Stars in the MTN8 quarter-final at Loftus Stadium today, but Mosimane says it will happen during the course of the season.
“The season is long and it will take some time,” he said after the game. “Obviously we are not happy we lost, but you must understand that on the field it is 11 against 11.
“It’s not how many players you have. Okay, we have resources and personnel in abundance to sustain this, but you have to accept you will lose. So long we understand how we lost.”
Mosimane was particularly unhappy with Tebogo Langerman, who was at fault for both goals, including giving away a penalty early on.
“We made crucial mistakes. I saw the penalty again we gave away last year against Orlando Pirates, and here it was the same thing.
“My fullback was not clever there, not committed; very, very unprofessional approach inside the box. I can do nothing about it as a coach. All I can do is to show him and correct him. The second goal was also from the left side."
‘Jingles’ added: “Talent we have, but when you make mistakes like this on the penalty, there is nothing to do with the talent you have. And when you don’t finish the chances you have, there is nothing you can do with the talent.
