Thulani Hlatshwayo has dismissed talk that he chose the easy career option by joining Bidvest Wits over Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Hlatshwayo insists that the reason he joined Gavin Hunt's side was not because he was scared of competition at Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 24-year-old defender has admitted that he had offers from both Pirates and Sundowns before deciding to join the Students, but he had already made up his mind.
"I didn't choose Wits because I thought it will be easy for me to break into the starting eleven," Hlatshwayo tells KickOff.com.
"I felt like it matches my type of style, the way I play, so it doesn't mean that I came to Wits and I'm scared of competition at Sundowns or Pirates. I chose Wits because I'm comfortable here; I think I will compete as much as I would have done with the other two clubs."
The former Ajax Cape Town defender adds that the reason he declined offers from Downs and Bucs was that Wits had already shown huge interest.
"SuperSport was not part of the deal, it was only Sundowns and Pirates. The reason I didn't join them was because the negotiations with Wits were ahead when they approached me. I was already in advanced stages with Wits and managed to choose them."
