Bloemfontein Celtic refuse to release Malawi duo Frank Mhango and Limbikani Mzava

Posted: 17 July 2014 Time: 11:19

Bloemfontein Celtic have maintained their stance that they will not release Frank Mhango and Limbikani Mzava to the Malawian national team next month.

Celtic have decided against releasing striker Mhango and defender Mzava for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on August 2 because they claim that the game does not fall under the FIFA calendar.

The Malawian Football Association have since written a letter to SAFA to ask for their intervention to force Siwelele to release the duo for the game against Benin.

However, Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco re-affirmed their stance of not releasing the Malawian players for national duty.

"We are not releasing the players," Konco tells KickOff.com. "The game doesn't fall under the FIFA calendar and we cannot be forced to release the players. We have an important game [against Bidvest Wits in the MTN8] on the same day [weekend]."

Fifa is one body which is so unorganised, why Africa Cup of Nations qualifier does not fall under the FIFA calendar it make not sense, wonder if Euro has encountered similar problems in the past, it so unfair for Africa to be treated without considerations.

CAF is bunch of failed politicians just like a majority of african FAs they have no vested interest in wholesome development of soccer but fatenning their pockets and an advancament of their cliques.
