Moroka Swallows complete Lantshene Phalane signing

Posted: 15 July 2014 Time: 17:04

Moroka Swallows have completed the signing of former Platinum Stars midfielder Lantshene Phalane.

Swallows coach Zeca Marques confirms the capture of the 24-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal with an option of a third year.

“That is a done deal,” Marques tells KickOff.com.

Phalane spent the past season on loan at University of Pretoria and has also been on loan at Milano United.

Marques adds that he is now settled on his squad of 26 players for this season and is only on the market for a striker.

“I think we have done our fair share of signings with the only position where I am still looking being up-front,” he says. “We have two Nigerian strikers training with us while we expect another Brazilian striker to arrive this week.

Swallows have already also signed Obren Cuckovic, Vladimir Mandic, Boris Savic, Kevin Omondi, Tsietsi Mahoa, Lucky Baloyi and Philani Cele.

We don't like what Swallows is doing, cause they sign good players and keep the for a season, next season if he perform well he will leave Swallows what makes that Swallows?

As much as i somehow agree with the perception that local is lekker but not with soccer, soccer is a business which at time is illusive to supporters, local players are overpriced more especially when a renowned teams show interest,Black leopards,Baroka players to name just few can be bought by the highest bidder,of which teams like Swallows are not on that business,i might believe Swallows financial books might not be as bad as people think, how they afforded Bhele,Sibaya and other international players, win the top 8 after been runners up  and reduced the squad last year with uknown out of contract players most of them.I believe the players they sold last year made some income to the team who was struggling financially.Maybe the question is with the new squad, can they rise to the occassion which is a typical football quiz but we can't judge them on papers. There are few teams in the PSL which their owners makes money out of others splashes, namely Supersport,Free state stars,Swallows to name just few, every year sell unknown players to big spenders,in business that's genius as long as you don't fall to the lower division.

Zeca I don't get it you are talking about having 26 players and you are in need of only 1 player and that is up front how many players did you have last season? we were very thin and to me 26 is little considering injuries and bookings we rather get other 2 strikers I think it will be enough think about it.

I wonder what type of football will Swallows be playing this season - I hope to see possession football, neat passing and very offensive and ofcoz very solid at the back.
