Sibusiso Kumalo, Kwanda Mngonyama join Maritzburg United

Posted: 7 July 2014 Time: 12:14

Maritzburg United are still frantically trying to replenish their troops ahead of the 2014/15 PSL campaign, and they are a step closer with the acquisitions of defender Kwanda Mngonyama and midfielder Sibusiso Kumalo from Mamelodi Sundowns now confirmed.

The players arrive at Harry Gwala Stadium on season-long loans, and are unlikely to be the last Downs players captured by the Team of Choice ahead of the new season.

“They are in Pietermaritzburg now and have begun training,” Maritzburg chairman Farouk Kadodia tells KickOff.com.

Negotiations for Downs defender Abel Mabaso have hit a stumbling block but are still ongoing, and Kadodia is confident that he will have his man by the end of the week.

Then there is Sundowns striker Rodney Ramagalela, who Kadodia says might still end up in Maritzburg.

“We are still waiting to hear on him [Ramagalela]; we don’t know at this stage.”

Coach Steve Komphela was also looking at Zimbabwean left-back Khumbulani Banda as a possible replacement for Ruben Cloete, but Kadodia said that no decisions had been made yet.

“There are still a number of positions that need to be filled, so we need to be careful how we utilise our foreign player allocation,” he says. “We will know more on that later in the week.”

I'm not against any of Sundowns rules but they are turning PSL to a joke. Maritzburg United, Polokwane City, Mpumalamga Black Aces, Pretoria University & Chippa United are looking for loanees from Sundowns and this players are going to make first team at this teams but when they play Sundowns they aren't allowed to play which is 15 points to Sundowns. Honestly this is not showing how strong is Sundowns but how strong Sundowns can deplete(diminish in number or quantity) a team with their loanees. Hence PSL will always produce joke players for Bafana Bafana. That's my opinion but again Sundowns pay certain percentages towards those players while they play for those teams. Therefore PSL is a joke, that is why some of us watch or follow European leagues due to quality that is there & the competition.

At a long run all teams will be made up of signclowns loaned players while signclowns will be playing all foreigners in their squad. I hate it when money is misused by this, and not by its owner.

tselai Tselai....1. Sundowns has never force anyone to come and loan their players, 2. this teams who are loaning players from Sundowns should be the ones to blame.  3. The market to buy players is open for all teams not Downs only.  I am more surprised by Mr. Khompela who ws interviewed by Marawa few days ago complaining about Downs and their loan deals but to day his team went to acquire two more players from the same team  whom they complain about........My friend I surgest u should enjoy your eupean leagues....

KenzoM tselai if Maritzburg have to produce competitive football it needs quality players but Sundowns is signing them all, hence half of PSL teams will run to Sundowns for players

tselai Chief, you are used to having pirates and chiefs dominating everything in our soccer. now you cry foul because sundowns is dominating. How many times do we need to mention that we have been doing this loaning thing for years now, but you didnt seem bothered because we werent winning.

We lost to plk city and Aces last season, how do you interpret that?

sam_sundawana tselai my friend I'm not, I enjoyed watching Wits & Platinum Stars as they brought competition in the previous season but now there are chances of not seeing the best Platinum Stars next season, as vultures are flying over their camp. I still say Sundowns is not a strong team its a depleting team.

tselai KenzoM dont treat us like kids chief, what exactly do you mean sundowns is buying all quality, ntuli, nomandela, mbekile, Booysens and evans. are these quality players? and if so, why didnt other teams make a bid to buy them.

People have a serious problem with sundowns buying players but they are okay with clubs that are not interested in buying players. We always joke that chief is broke, stingy etc, but when you look at it, it is actually very sad that this big team has no interest in buying our local players.

Hayi chief fact is a fact your team is killing SA football period! All other psl teams play against their loaned players except Sundowns, moreover they buy all these good players only to either loan them or send them to the stands. Money is nonsense if it is used to destroy our game, but ke Sundowns supporters will defend this destruction

sam_sundawana tselai KenzoM I don't mind Sundowns signing all the players, for a quality football we need to see them come against Sundowns as they are loanees then we can see the quality of those who are left behind.

did sundowns also "weaken" chiefs by loaning Mpela to them? are these loan deals only getting attention because chiefs lost the lead at a crucial time ti sundowns?

the logic of an on-loan player is that he should be mainly used as a backup player but ke these psl coaches rely toi much on our players ti save their jobs.. its funny even gaven criticizes the same clause that wits had in ace with aces... i guess all this critism is due to bittetness.. we produce and buy only quality players whether you like it or not.. only our players can walk staight to the lineup of all psl teams except sundowns.. if chiefs is such a "big clubs with millions of supporters and tens of sponsors" than why cant they attract the best players like other big clubs in the world.. all big clubs know that to win you have to spend.. if chiefs cannot afford manqele our doors are always open for a loan move nabo bayazi very well about our famous clause!

tselai sam_sundawana You forgot to mention aces as one of the teams that brought in competition last season

And whose fault is it that players are being bought in every transfer window? is it sundowns' fault?. Platinum stars won 2 cups last season, did they have players loaned out from us?

the point i am making is that our soccer is generally poor and people only point out sundowns as the problem. I am sure it is sundowns problem that our top goal scorer only had 10 goals

sam_sundawana tselai Aces with Sundowns loanees who cant play against Sundowns, there was no need to the game because Zwane couldn't test Modise, we want to see that as he didn't make it hence he was loaned out. Competition bra

tselai sam_sundawana KenzoM So you want me to pay my player and have that player compete against me.

isnt that unfair competition? You guys always cry about competition being unfair but it seems that you not so much interested in unfair competition itself, you just want to have things go your way...as usual

tselai spot on boss, Sundowns is making other teams weak so that makes them not a strong team but a team playing against weaker opponents due to loanees. If they were a good team they would allow their loanees to play against them

tselai

sam_sundawana tselai KenzoM Therefore Sundowns is not so strong but depleting team half of PSL & signing everyone to reduce competition hence I said Sundowns is turning PSL to a joke.

Yaaa you're right but PLEASE exclude Pirates there, because we're a BIG team and we don't accomodate on loan players from any local teams.
