AmaZulu join race for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Monama

Posted: 30 June 2014 Time: 08:37

University of Pretoria coach Steve Barker’s plans to retain Raymond Monama could be frustrated by AmaZulu, who have now also entered the race to rope in the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder.

Monama completed his loan spell with AmaTuks when the curtain came down on the 2013/14 season.

Barker – who would like the player to continue for at least another season – previously told KickOff.com that Sundowns would inform him of their decision regarding his request.

However, AmaZulu are also now after the former Black Leopards youngster – a development that now adds further uncertainty to the player’s future.

AmaTuks confirm to KickOff.com that Sundowns are yet to make a decision regarding Monama.

“They will probably tell us about what they have decided in the next coming days,” AmaTuks spokesperson Pearl Mosoane tells this website.

She adds that AmaTuks are aware that other clubs are also after the midfielder: “We know that they are a few clubs after him but we are not really bothered by that.”

Joining sunflops for some players is indirectly putting themselves up for going from one team to another on loan till the end of ur contract, the good thing is that they will be earning big salary while playing for the likes of amazulu nd polokwane city.

YELLO ADDICTED True that,,, in SA you are considered a youth at the age of 34 hence also soccer players and the media tend to think that a 25 year old is a youngster.

Ray. You will be well advised to go and seek game time elsewhere. Competition has increased. Good point right there, Mountainking!

Yes cause he played well for leopards and was given a chance to play but didn't show the hunger he had at leopards

In monamas position modise was not performing so was zwane and zungu joined last season.some players are bought and are not hungry enough when they join teams that they wanted to play for.it happens all over the world.lukaku didn't do well at chelsea and forlan at man u they left and did well elsewhere.ngcobo left chiefs and did well.the list is endless really and you can't blame teams for players who underperform when given chances
